The search on Chesapeake Bay off Maryland for Robert F. Kennedy’s granddaughter and great-grandson has turned from a rescue into a recovery, the Kennedy family has announced. Maeve Kennedy Townsend KcKean, 40, and her eight-year old son, Gideon, were reported missing on Thursday while in a canoe on the bay. Maeve McKean is the daughter of Robert Kennedy’s daughter Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, the former lieutenant governor of Maryland. This is one of many tragedies the Kennedy family has endured.
Maeve and Kathleen joined Cesar Chavez in August 1988 during his 36-day fast in Delano over the pesticide poisoning of farm workers and their children. She and other members of the family have consistently supported the farm workers over the years.
The farm worker movement and Chavez family ask everyone to keep the Kennedy family in their prayers.
