Taking a stand against the inhumanity of Trump administration immigration practices, the United Farm Workers and UFW Foundation are joining allied groups and community members at “Lights for Liberty” vigils to end human detention camps on Friday, July 12 in Fresno, Manteca, Santa Rosa, Watsonville, Bakersfield and Monterey. Similar events at more than 500 locations across the nation call for an end to ongoing, cruel and inhumane treatment of immigrants, refugees and families and for an end to human detention camps separating children from their parents.

Thousands of Americans are taking to the streets throughout the country and the world, including 70 locations in California, with new events being added daily.

On March 13, 2018, a farm worker husband-and-wife couple, Santos Hilario Garcia and Marcelina Garcia Porfecto, tragically died while fleeing ICE agents, leaving six young orphans ages eight to 18.
