UFW endorses Angelides & Westly
The National Executive Board of the United Farm Workers of America issued the following statement today from the union’s Keene, Calif. headquarters.
Following interviews of the candidates by elected farm worker leaders from organized companies throughout the state, the United Farm Workers of America is proud to issue a dual endorsement of the gubernatorial candidacies of state Treasurer Phil Angelides and state Controller Steve Westly.
Both candidates would be governors who strongly represent the interests of farm workers and all the people of California.
Both have demonstrated a strong and consistent commitment to fairly remedying our nation’s broken immigration system.
Both have shown their firm commitment to the right of farm workers to improve their lives and the lives of their families through self-organization and union contracts.
Both boast experience in the public and private sectors that have well prepared them for leadership.
