UFW celebrates Chaddock contract with workers, local labor & political leaders
 
    
Marking the United Farm Workers’ first union contract with an employer outside of agriculture, UFW President Arturo Rodriguez will join other area labor leaders, elected officials and Guy Chaddock & Co. furniture workers for a celebration breakfast Wednesday morning in Bakersfield.
 
Plant employees, many of them ex-farm workers, voted for the UFW in a secret ballot election and the Cesar Chavez-founded union recently concluded negotiations for a contract with the high-end furniture manufacturer on East Brundage Ln.
 
Among those attending the victory observance where the UFW will thank supporters for their help in winning the agreement are Assemblymember Dean Florez (D-Bakersfield) and Kern County Supervisor Pete Parra.
