Responds to President Bush’s
Disaster Relief Declaration
"President Bush’s declaration is a step in the right direction, but simply not enough," said UFW President Arturo Rodriguez. "Farm working families are in a time of crisis with thousands left jobless and unable to pay their bills.
"For more than two months farm workers have organized to have their voices heard. With no savings and no work, families are in a state of crisis. While food donations are critical, federal relief needs to apply toward mortgage and rental assistance and utility payments or thousands of families will lose their homes."
