GOVERNOR DAVIS ANNOUNCES OPENING

OF CHAVEZ-KENNEDY TRIBUTE

SACRAMENTO – Governor Gray Davis today announced the opening of "Celebrating a Legacy of Social Justice," a tribute sponsored by the families of Ces·r Chavez and Robert F. Kennedy. The exhibit consists of powerful photographs displayed outside the governorís office that recognizes the many contributions of these two men to society.

More than 150 photographs depicting the tremendous impact that the two great leaders had on America and its people will be on display from April 26 to May 8. Icons in American history, Chavez and Kennedy effected lasting political and cultural change. The exhibit also includes pictures of men and women inspired by these leaders, accompanied by a brief quote describing how Chavez and Kennedy impacted their lives.

Among those represented in the exhibit are political leaders such as First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton, Governor Davis, Speaker Villaraigosa, San Francisco Mayor Willie L. Brown Jr. and Sacramento Mayor Joe Serna Jr.
