1,000 Farm Workers to Receive COVID Vaccine at Monterey Mushrooms Facility in Morgan Hill

10 a.m. – 3 p.m. vaccination Sunday & Wednesday
News Conference at 11 a.m. on Sunday, February 28th

MORGAN HILL—One thousand farm workers will receive the COVID-19 vaccine between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 28th and Wednesday, March 3rd, at the Monterey Mushrooms facility in Morgan Hill. These vaccination events result from a partnership between the UFW Foundation, United Farm Workers, Monterey Mushrooms and the County of Santa Clara. It could serve as a model for collaboration in other regions of the state. Monterey Mushrooms is a unionized company. But among the workers on Sunday and Wednesday will be employees from other area farms.

A press conference will be held at the site at 11 a.m. PST. The list of speakers below.

  • Shah Kazemi – Founder and President, Monterey Mushrooms
  • Bonita Rivera – National Vice President, United Farm Workers
  • Diana Tellefson Torres – Executive Director, UFW Foundation
  • Dr. Sara Cody – Health Officer and Director of Public Health, County of Santa Clara

In addition to the media conference, workers who are being vaccinated, as well as representatives from Monterey Mushrooms, the UFW and the UFW Foundation will be available. Media will have the potential opportunity to capture footage of vaccinations dependent on patient consent.
