State Senator Alex Padilla and Governor Gavin Newsom have shown their support for Salas in the past.

Newsom also attended Sunday’s rally in Delano, and stood by for what Salas has to offer.

“We know that this is one of the most important races in the entire country, it had the most amount of independent expenditure money spent than anywhere else in the country,” said Salas.

“Having the endorsements front the governor, our state senator, like I said over 120 elected officials and organizations means a lot to me because it shows that the hard work that we’ve been doing out in the community and connecting with people, changing people’s lives ins making a difference,” he added.

Even though the rally was a private event, Eyewitness News was able to speak with the President of United Farmworkers who said Salas’s understanding and family background in farmworking is something the community trusts him to enrich.

“ As the son of farmworker parents, he understands the challenges, the day in and day out challenges, he fought for overtime for farm workers. I mean they were excluded. He made sure that pesticides, there was a drift of pesticides that were going through schools, he fought for that and now the kids in schools are protected. He marched with us in 2022 he has really shown the support for the community and the understanding for the farmworkers issues,” said Teresa Romero.
