GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) – Grand Rapids’ Hispanic community paid tribute to Cesar Chavez today on what would have been the hispanic civil rights leader’s 83rd birthday.
The Social Justice March was this morning at 11:00am, stretching from the Hispanic Center of Western Michigan to Roosevelt Park Community Church.
Cesar Chavez was a Mexican-American farm worker who fought for Hispanic civil and labor rights in the 1960’s and 70’s.
Grand Valley State University is also paying tribute today with a silent march on the Allendale campus.
