Davenport hosts César Chávez presentation
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) – The contributions of César Chávez will be presented at Davenport University in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month.
César E. Chávez Legacy and Education Foundation founder Jaime Martinez will give the noon presentation Wednesday at Davenport University in Grand Rapids.
The event is free and open to the public.
Davenport Diversity, Equity and Inclusion executive director Rhae-Ann Booker says the presentation "goes hand and hand" with the school’s diversity initiatives.
Chavez led United Farm Workers union grape boycotts and raised awareness of the plight Hispanic agricultural workers.
