United Farm Workers Urges U.S. Census Participation

LA PAZ, KEENE, CA – Because U.S. farm workers tend overwhelmingly to be immigrant and largely undocumented, the United Farm Workers of America encourages undocumented immigrants living in this country to be counted in the U.S. Census. It is extremely important that all Latinos with or without documents are counted to ensure programs and services benefiting our families are equitably allocated. State services are based on money received from federal funds, which is determined by the number of people living in each state.  An accurate count helps the federal government allocate more than $300 billion of federal funds annually for programs and services in our state. As we continue fighting to bring the millions of undocumented immigrants out of the shadows through comprehensive immigration reform, it is of utmost importance that we show our presence in this nation. ¡Hagase contar! (Make yourselves count).
