UFW to Unveil New, Multilingual Website on Labor Day Weekend
LOS ANGELES–The United Farm Workers is excited to announce the launch of its new multilingual website which will make its debut on Labor Day weekend.
The site will feature a stand-alone Spanish-language website which will replace the current Spanish pages the UFW offered at www.ufw.org.
The site will also feature a condensed Thai-language site for its Thai members.
The two new sites will act as a key resource for workers and their families regardless of where they may be in the world. With a simple click of the mouse they will be able to learn about their rights and find out what the UFW is doing on their behalf.
The UFW recognizes that both union members and their children utilize the internet in ever-increasing numbers. During an informal poll taken of members attending the UFW’s convention Aug. 22-24, more than a quarter said they use the internet, and nearly 100 percent said someone in their family regularly used the internet.
The two sites can be accessed at: www.ufw.org/s and www.ufw.org/thai or from links on the main page at www.ufw.org.
Some of the new features on the Spanish site include:
- The Juan de la Cruz Pension Plan: farm workers can submit their information and see if they qualify for a pension.
- Union organizing: details on heat, labor, immigration and pesticide regulations. Updates on the latest organizing drives and victories.
- Worker voices: workers will be able to tell their stories in their own words.
- Hot Issues: the latest current news and events.
- Research: a place where farm workers, students, historians and reporters can learn about the history of the UFW and Cesar Chavez.
- Directory: A complete listing of UFW and movement offices and how to find them.
