UFW members, farm workers join more than ten thousand to rally in Downtown Las Vegas for immigration reform
Bakersfield, CA – Over a hundred farm workers, UFW members and community leaders from the Central Valley will be joining UFW President Arturo S. Rodriguez and thousands of people expected to gather Saturday, April 10, in Nevada to advocate for a comprehensive immigration reform. The rally, organized by the Reform Immigration FOR America national campaign, which includes the United Farm Workers, is pushing for comprehensive immigration reform legislation that would allow approximately 12 million undocumented immigrants to legalize their residency status in this country. The UFW group traveling to Las Vegas will be meeting in Bakersfield at the Park & Ride on Mt. Vernon and Highway 58 intersection between 5 and 5:30 a.m. Note: There are no seats available. Speakers at the rally with Senator Harry Reid, Representative Luis Gutierrez, Representative Shelley Berkley, Representative Dina Titus, President Trumka of the AFL-CIO, and President John Wilhelm of UNITE-HERE, and President Arturo Rodriguez of UFW. In Washington State, Senators Murray and Cantwell will be joined by Representatives McDermott and Honda for a rally with thousands. In Chicago, Senator Richard Durbin will join activists at a rally for reform. There are other events in Providence, Brooklyn, El Paso, and Philadelphia.
