SACRAMENTO — Two busloads of Gerawan Farming, Inc. workers will attend a public Agricultural Labor Relations Board meeting today to ask the ALRB to order the giant tree fruit and grape grower to implement their union contract hammered out by a neutral state mediator.

By implementing the contract at the Gerawan owned Prima Brand,  UFW hopes to rectify the wage disparity and discrimination among Prima workers.  Prima workers received a negotiated $11 hourly pay, plus a 10 percent increase for all other crew and cultural employees effective July 1. However, Gerawan is refusing to apply these wage increases  to  farm labor contractor employees, who are currently being paid $9 an hour.

At the meeting, United Farm Worker representatives will also be serving the ALRB Board with a copy of the Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charge, which will be filed later today regarding the alleged discrimination of Farm Labor Contractor employees.
