New office is ready to provide immigration legal services to Northern San Joaquin Valley
Fresno, CA – On Thursday, January 17th from 10:00am-12:00pm the United Farm Workers Foundation (UFW Foundation) will host the grand opening of its new office on 2409 Merced St. Suite 103, Fresno, CA. The program will start at 10:30am.
The UFW Foundation provides affordable immigration legal services and community education, with a particular focus on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Naturalization, and Family Based Immigration assistance.
This will mark the opening of the UFW Foundation’s sixth office in six years. The community is encouraged to attend and meet the staff. Guest Speakers will include Diana Tellefson Torres, UFW Foundation Executive Director, and Tanis Ybarra, UFW Foundation Board Member.
Tellefson Torres states, “Now the UFW Foundation will be providing credible immigration legal services to the Latino community throughout the San Joaquin Valley. As individuals prepare to apply for some type of immigration benefit, the UFW Foundation reminds applicants to beware of notaries “notarios” or other service providers who are not authorized to provide legal immigration advice.”
The UFW Foundation in Fresno also invites the community to attend its informational session on DACA on January 18 at 3:00 pm. Deferred Action (DACA) sessions will also be available every Tuesday and Thursday at 12:00pm and 4:00 pm. In addition, Citizenship informational sessions will be held every Wednesday at 10:00am and 6:00pm. The organization will also provide Citizenship preparation classes.
All cases are reviewed by the UFW Foundation’s immigration attorney. In addition, the office has applied for Federal Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) recognition and accreditation. We are excited to be serving Fresno County and nearby counties. Currently, the UFW Foundation is the only BIA Recognized agency with full-time BIA accredited staff, south of Stockton. The organization has California offices in Bakersfield, Salinas, Greenfield, Fresno, and in Phoenix, Arizona.
As the Farm Worker Movement continues to grow, Diana Tellefson Torres underlines the movement’s goals “the UFW Foundation is focusing on achieving a new immigration process this year that includes providing immigration services and working in immigration policy for a roadmap to citizenship for 11 million new Americans. Our BIA accredited providers, Outreach Team and staff commits to keeping our community informed of all immigration developments."
