Last Tuesday night I went to a meeting with indigenous workers who are Purepechas, from the Mexican state of Michoacan. Workers from this area are the newest wave of immigrants, migrating to the United States to work in agriculture over the last decade. They labor extremely hard in the fields and migrate all over the Western U.S. picking the crops. They came to us to ask for our support to defend their rights and improve the situation for themselves and their families. We will do everything we can to help them.
