Celebration at library honors Cesar Chavez
A program to celebrate the life and legacy of farm worker, labor leader and civil rights activist Cesar Chavez is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at the Medford library, 205 S. Central Ave.
The event will feature music, dance and theater performances by local youth and adults, including Whistling Elk Drum, Ritmo Alegre, Oregon Shakespeare Festival resident teaching artist Amina Henry, Razas Unidas, Phoenix-based hip-hop group KRUE 365 and Phoenix Elementary School students.
Two community members, Mariann Rodriguez and Alejandra Ruiz, will be recognized for their service to Latino youths, organizers from NOWIA Unete, Center for Farm Worker Advocacy said in a news release about the program.
