Dedicated farm worker movement staff member Ann McGregor
Ann McGregor, who worked closely with Cesar Chavez and the farm worker movement for decades and compiled “Remembering Cesar,” a moving book about the farm labor and civil rights leader, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, according to a report received from her son, Bruce McGregor.
A role model of selfless dedication to La Causa, Ann devoted herself to serving the movement, from organizing United Farm Workers’ boycotts in Philadelphia to laboring at the movement’s La Paz, Keene, Calif. headquarters overseeing the provision of services remedying challenges farm workers faced in the communities where they lived.
Her wonderful book published in 2000, a collection of 45 firsthand accounts of Cesar by those who knew him the best—from celebrities and Chavez family members to movement staff and farm workers themselves—is beautifully illustrated by the compelling photographs of George Elfie Ballis.
Brief graveside services are scheduled at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, at Belmont Memorial Park in Fresno.
