Colorado State University Celebrates Art, Music and Cesar Chavez

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State University’s annual Cesar Chavez celebration this week features a theme of “Continuing the Work of Cesar Chavez: A Tribute through Art and Music.”

“This year’s celebration focuses on the art and music that reflects the legacies of Cesar Chavez, which continue to make a difference in the lives of all people,” said Guadalupe Salazar, director of El Centro, an office in CSU’s Division of Student Affairs. “We must never forget our heroes who led the way for a better tomorrow; Cesar Chavez was one hero many of us will never forget.”

On Thursday, March 28, the annual Cesar Chavez Community Celebration will be held at the Drake Centre, 802 W. Drake Road in Fort Collins, 6-8 p.m. The night will be celebrated with food, awards and entertainment, including a performance by LASSO and author. Gloria Velasquez, Ph.D., will present "Dare to Dream."

The celebration concludes Friday, March 29, with a brown-bag session 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. with Velasquez presenting "My Life Journey: From the Farmworker Fields to Stanford University." The event will be held in the Lory Student Center Theatre, and attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch. Cookies and lemonade will be provided.
