Helen F. Chavez, Cesar Chavez’s widow, would have been 89 today (Jan. 21, 2017), as countless women march against Donald Trump in Washington, D.C. and in 50 states across the nation. Helen passed away at age 88 on June 6, 2016. Among those joining the Women’s March on the National Mall in Washington in t-shirts bearing the United Farm Workers’ black eagle symbol are (from left) Helen’s granddaughter Olivia Irlando, great-granddaughter Sofia Irlando, Sonia Rodriguez (wife of UFW President Arturo S. Rodriguez) and granddaughters Julie Chavez Rodriguez and Teresa Chavez Delgado. Chavez family members also participated in marches in San Jose, Sacramento and Las Vegas.
