UAW: Delano Grape Strike – Lorraine Agtang Reflects 50 Years Later
Lorraine Agtang remembers Cesar Chavez and the 1965 Delano Grape Strike in Delano, California on the 50th anniversary.
The strike began when Filipino grape pickers walked out of the fields in protest over fair wages. The strike would soon be led by labor organizer Cesar Chavez and more than 1200 Mexican workers before the grape boycott ended in 1970 and the workers gained contracts with the United Farm Workers.
