KEPR TV: Immigration rally in Pasco

Immigration rally in Pasco

PASCO, Wash. – A protest group plans to sit at Doc Hastings’ Pasco office until they get action. They are joining similar rallies across the country calling for immigration reform.

Dozens of people were there, including members of the United Farm Workers. They are asking Hastings to urge House Speaker John Boehner to take the current reform bill to a vote.

It’s been nearly a year since the senate passed the reform bill. They want the bill passed before the legislative window closes.

Local organizer Jorge Venezuela said, "We’re continuing to see families separated. We’re continuing to see children become orphans, children who are American citizens becoming orphans overnight. We’re seeing farmers losing their work force."

The group plans on staging a rally around the clock until Friday.
