Breakfast Held to Commemorate Life of Cesar E. Chavez

A breakfast will be held in downtown San Diego Thursday morning to commemorate the life of Cesar E. Chavez. Local elected officials, business leaders and residents will attend the 10th annual "Cesar E. Chavez Commemorative Breakfast," which gets under way at 7 a.m. at the San Diego Convention Center. Highlights of the event include a presentation by the winner of an essay contest on the late founder of the United Farm Workers union. The event, which is sponsored by the Cesar E. Chavez Commemoration Committee, is in advance of Cesar Chavez Day on Monday. The holiday was established to mark Chavez’s birthday. It honors Chavez’s work improving the lives of migrant farm workers and his legacy as a civil rights leader. |
