Cesar Chavez drive gives books to kids
The drive, which begins Tuesday and ends May 5, is sponsored by numerous state agencies, including the California Highway Patrol. More than 4,000 books were collected last year, said CHP Commissioner Joe Farrow.
New and used children’s books in all languages can be donated at the Ventura CHP office, 4656 Valentine Road.
The books will be distributed to schools, shelters and other organizations. More than 60,000 books have been donated since the drive began seven years ago.
