Celebrate Cesar Chavez Week March 21-25
Boise State University’s Multicultural Student Services presents Cesar Chavez Week, March 21-25. The weeklong event celebrates civil rights activist Cesar Chavez, who founded the United Farm Workers of America. Commemoration of Chavez’s birthday, March 31, is intended to promote service to the community and honor Chavez’s life and work. All events are free and open to the public.

Monday, March 21
Film: “The Fight in the Fields.” Student Union Simplot C Ballroom. 6-8 p.m. A film profiling farm worker leader Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers Union he established.
Tuesday, March 22
Chicano/a Read-In. Student Union Brava! Stage. 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. Read aloud your favorite literary work from a Chicano/a author. Sign up in the Student Diversity Center for a five-minute time slot.
Wednesday, March 23
Cake and Petition. Quad. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Celebrate Chavez’s birthday and show your support for making his birthday a national holiday.
Thursday, March 24
History of Latina Women in America, Panel and Film. Student Union Hatch A Ballroom. 6-8 p.m. Spanning five centuries, the comprehensive film “Adelante, mujeres!” focuses exclusively on the history of Mexican American/Chicana women — from the Spanish invasion to the present.
Friday, March 25
Memorial Display and History Handouts. Student Union Brava! Stage. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Learn about Cesar Chavez and the civil rights movement.
