This year marks the 18th anniversary of Cesar’s passing on April 23rd, 1993. Annually, thousands of Bay Area residents, families, schools, religious groups, labor unions, and community organizations join in to celebrate Cesar’s legacy. This is the largest event honoring Cesar Chavez in Northern California.

Celebrating the legacy of Cesar Chavez gives us the opportunity to reflect on the values he applied in his work. The values of service, sacrifice, self-determination, non-violence and community will be expressed in parade contingents, festival booths and speakers.

This year’s festival will feature a focus on youth with the Cesar E. Chavez art contest winners; a teach-in on Cesar’s life and work; a special Cesar E. Chavez Educational Achievement Award ceremony recognizing Latino honor roll students in San Francisco public schools and performances by several youth groups from the Mission.

Live entertainment at 24th and Bryant features Dr. Loco’s Rockin’ Jalapeño Band; The Cuban Cowboys; En Vivo; Abel & the Prophets and the Frisco Project; youth ballet folklorico group, Cuicacalli; Danza Azteca Xitlalli; Mariachi Juvenil de San Francisco; Dance Mission Theater’s Grrrl Brigade, and vocalist Margarita. The 24th St. Fair will also include their annual Classic Car at Harrison St. and 24th St.
