Perhaps it’s no surprise that Barack Obama looks to have sewn up 70 percent of the Latino vote. Last month, he and Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar offered the Chicano solidarity movement a permanent fist bump. The president designated César Chávez’s former California compound, La Paz, a national monument. After all, Chávez’s slogan, “Sí Se Puede” (“Yes We Can”), helped Obama plenty in 2008.
