Silent march in honor of Cesar Chavez happening Wednesday at GVSU
ALLENDALE, MI — Several events, including a silent march, are planned Wednesday in honor of Cesar Chavez, the late Latino civil rights activist who fought for fair treatment of farm workers.
A silent march will begin at 1:30 p.m. at Zumberge Library, followed by a speech by Mark Kamimura-Jimenez from 2-3 p.m. in the Grand River Room of the Kirkhof Center.
Kamimura-Jimenez is director of Graduate Student Success at the University of Michigan. His speech is titled “Camina Conmigo: Navigating the Latino Educational Pipeline.”
