UFW Foundation Immigration Project Opens
in Salinas with a Naturalization Event
Salinas, CA The UFW Foundation’s Immigration Project marked the opening of its Salinas office with a naturalization event Sept. 7.
The event took place at the UFW Foundation office, 437 E. Alisal St. in Salinas from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event was for legal permanent residents who wish to become U.S. citizens and who would like more information about the process or help filling out a citizenship application.
A new citizenship exam will be given to all individuals who apply after Oct. 1, 2008. Because of this, the UFW Foundation encourages all eligible legal permanent residents to apply before that date.
Beginning on Sept. 8, immigrants and their families now have a place to turn for help with immigration issues. Individuals will be able to consult with UFW Foundation staff for help with immigration problems at 437 E. Alisal St. in Salinas. People wishing to make an appointment should call Ricardo Nuñez, immigration services provider with the UFW Foundation, at 831-757-6713.
“The UFW Foundation welcomes all members of the community. We look forward to providing affordable and trustworthy immigration assistance, under the supervision of a licensed attorney,” said Diana Tellefson, Executive Director of the UFW Foundation.
The UFW Foundation was founded by labor leader and civil-rights activist César E. Chávez in 1974. The 501(c)(3) non-profit organization aims to improve the lives of low-income and immigrant workers through civic engagement, community education and through the research, implementation, and enforcement of equitable public policy.
