Faith and Community Leaders Speak Out Against SB 1070
National and Arizona Faith Leaders and Community Leaders To Offer Prayers and
Deliver Over 50,000 Petitions Urging Governor Brewer to Veto Bill
On the heels of the passage of SB 1070 in the Arizona House of Representatives, national and local faith leaders and community leaders will offer prayers and deliver more than 50,000 petitions calling on Governor Jan Brewer to veto the legislation. Leaders will discuss the moral implications of this harsh and ineffective bill that would create fear and mistrust throughout Arizona’s Latino community, while doing nothing to address the broken immigration system.
Leaders will offer prayers and speak on behalf of the faith community in Arizona and around the nation that is united in its rejection of this legislation as a harsh tactic that will divide families and fail to provide a lasting solution to effectively reform our nation’s immigration laws.
