Coachella student received the UFW’s ‘Si Se Puede’ scholarship for her academic success and community service

Coachella, CA –  Adriana Gonzales, daughter of a former United Farm Workers union member, was the recipient of one of 10 scholarships the UFW is awarding this year to children of UFW members who are entering or attending college. Gonzalez received her scholarship during an awards ceremony Saturday afternoon in Coachella.

The “Si Se Puede” Scholarship Program is awarding $9,500 in scholarships to 10 young people who are the sons and daughters of UFW members in California, Washington state and Oregon this year. Scholarships range from $1000 to $500. Students are selected to receive the scholarships based on their outstanding academic achievement and exemplary volunteer and community service.

Gonzales’ father, the late Cruz Gonzalez, was a union member at HMS. Her mother Teresa Gonzales and other family along with HMS employees were with her during this special recognition.
