4/23/2013: Message from UFW President Arturo S Rodriguez re the 20th Anniversary of Cesar Chavez’ passing

Today, Tuesday, April 23 is 20 years since Cesar Chavez passed away. Countless communities across the nation have honored him, and the list keeps growing. Yet Cesar himself said if his union and movement didn’t survive his passing then his work would have been in vain. What better way for farm workers to honor Cesar Chavez’s legacy than by continuing to organize and negotiate United Farm Workers contracts, and to keep battling for just immigration reform—all to protect themselves in both the fields and in the communities where they work? So let us all mark today’s anniversary and honor Cesar’s memory by doing the only thing he would asked us to do: Keep working nonviolently on behalf of the cause to which he dedicated his life.
