Join the UFW in keeping Marin Sheen in your prayers as he recovers from heart surgery
All of us with the farm worker movement are keeping actor and activist Martin Sheen in our thoughts and prayers after we learned Wednesday he is recovering well from successful quadruple bypass surgery at a hospital in Los Angeles. He is expected to be home for Christmas and return to his work early next year, according to a message from his son, Emilio Estevez.
Martin has been a decades-long champion of the farm workers’ cause since he and Cesar Chavez became close friends during the 1980s. In addition to joining countless United Farm Workers’ marches, rallies and demonstrations—and even getting arrested with the farm workers—he has dedicated himself to many other good causes, living out his Catholic faith by helping to create a more just and peaceful world.
