SEIU, UFW, CTW presidents join activists billboarding against initiatives in East L.A.
National labor leaders join farm worker and other union activists for an election eve human billboard line Monday at a busy East Los Angeles intersection urging Latino voters to oppose the Gov. Schwarzenegger-backed initiatives on Tuesday’s special election ballot.
Service Employees International Union President Andrew Stern; United Farm Workers President Arturo Rodriguez; Anna Burger, president of the newly-founded Change to Win Federation; and Los Angeles County Federation of Labor Executive Secretary-Treasurer Martin Ludlow will join in holding up signs at mid day urging passing motorists to vote against Propositions 74, 75, 76 and 77 at the intersection of Atlantic Blvd. and Ave. Cesar Chavez from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Following the demonstration, activists will set off to walk precincts.
