Route set for ‘March for the Governor’s Signature’ from Merced to Sacramento
     

Organizers of the United Farm Workers’ "March for the Governor’s Signature" from Merced to Sacramento announced the route and schedule for the 150-mile, 10-day trek aimed at seeking Gov. Gray Davis’ signature on SB 1736, a UFW-sponsored bill granting field laborers mediation and arbitration to win their first union contracts with growers.

Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002Merced to Livingston
9 a.m. mass, 9:30 a.m. march starts, both at Courthouse Park, corner of "M" and 21st streets (east of Hwy. 99) in Merced.
5 p.m. end of day’s march at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1505 "E" St. (at 4th St. west of Hwy. 99) in Livingston.
5-6 p.m. parade through Livingston streets.
6 p.m. rally at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1505 "E" St. (at 4th St. west of Hwy. 99) in Livingston.

After Thursday, the march’s daily schedule will be 7 a.m. mass; 7:30 a.m. march begins; 5 p.m. march concludes for the day; 5-6 p.m. parade through streets of the town where it arrives; 6 p.m. rally.

Friday, Aug. 23, 2002–Point Pleasant to Freeport
Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002–Freeport to Cesar Chavez Plaza (Sacramento)
