We have heard reports of guidance directing DHS to “pause” raids on agricultural worksites and we are skeptical. As long as Border Patrol and ICE are allowed to sweep through farm worker communities making chaotic arrests the way they did TODAY, they are still hunting down farm workers.
Today we had calls before dawn from kids tracking their dads heading toward detention facilities, where they remain.
We had union members calling us for help locating neighbors and spouses. Many companies stayed closed today due to the presence of roving federal agents, especially Border Patrol.
We experienced such a sweep in Moorpark, CA today — after this “guidance” reportedly went out.
We are also aware of reports of potential sweeps this weekend in the Central Valley, the nation’s agricultural heartland.
If President Trump is actually in charge, he needs to prove it: stop the sweeps on hardworking Californians. Get serious about building a path forward.
Anything else is bullshit.
