The United Farm Workers offers opportunities to members of the community interested in volunteering in person and/or on-line.
Volunteering is a great way to support the Farm Workers Movement and promote the legacy while learning and serving. It can also provide experience for a career you may be considering as well as an appreciable quality to resumes!
The UFW Historical Projects Department is looking for interns/volunteers to:
- Sort and catalog past campaign documents for archives
- View and catalog UFW video tapes from the 1990s
- Sort and catalog duplicates of historical materials for various institutions
- Take photos of awards, proclamations, and other artifacts then draft titles
- Transcribe handwritten historical documents into searchable typed format
- Data entry of UFW full-time volunteer lists 1970s to 2000
On-site interns and volunteers must be fully vaccinated against covid-19 or provide a medical or religious exemption form; wear a mask when indoors; maintain social distancing; and take a temperature test before starting work. Those working on-line remote must be willing to use zoom and google drive programs. Training and supervision are provided.
