On Cesar Chavez Day, he’s remembered in Hempstead

Lilliam Juarez, an organizer at the Workplace Project, in Hempstead Village, says the group’s members did not plan a party or celebration Thursday, which some states (though not New York) observe as Cesar Chavez Day.

But Chavez, the farm labor activist, is on the minds of the Workplace Project members Thursday, she said. He’s on Juarez’s wall, too.
