The Human Resources Assistant (HR Assistant) is responsible for the administrative support of day-to-day human resources operations. The primary duties of the HR Assistant will include, but are not limited to: maintain official human resources records (both electronic and hard versions); assist in administering HR policies and procedures; opening, routing and responding to correspondence; responding to human resources questions via telephone and/or email; as well as providing high-level general clerical support. Secondary duties will include various special projects related to HR events and activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (This is not an exhaustive list)

  • Answers phones for the HR department;
  • Handles employment application intakes;
  • Performs HRIS (currently ADP) data entry and personnel file maintenance;
  • Assists employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures;
  • Assists with new-employee orientations;
  • Maintains confidential personnel files (electronic and hard) and personnel actions;
  • Prepares job postings;
  • Responds to reference checks and verifications of employment status;
  • Assists with employee recruitment activities;
  • Assists with special HR projects;
  • Assists with benefits administration; and
  • Other tasks as needed.
